The question is and i still am not sure is poker skill or luck?

I'd say 50\50 for sure. I mean, theres no mistaken that pros make it longer in the tournaments, but over the long haul many newbies knock them out with pure luck. Pro's get their money in usually with the best odds
most people will say it luck but by no means is this true players are not lucky when they make a bad call or make a bad bet i think poker is all about skill knowing how much to bet and to who to raise on and of coarse knowing when to fold these are all things that we practice and have nothing to do with luck 52 cards in a deck knowing the pot odds and when and where to bully if practiced enough becomes skill so in my opinion skill will get you further in a tourntment then luck
the question may be are you a GAMBLER or a POKER PLAYER
I think in my experience people only remember the bad beats. They forget all the times when their hands held up (easy to forget) but always remember the 3 outters on the river etc. (These always stick out).
I would say skill overtakes luck without question.
Deffinetly 50/50, it takes luck to get a good hand, but you also have to know what your doing if you choose to stay with your hand
More than 50\50, not luck the same guys win braclets over the long haul. I think if you put 4 pros vs 4 newbies at a table, 3\4 of the pros win out
I'm with Fluffer here, if it was 50/50 then it should be randoms winning at WPT that have no clue what they are doing.
Depends - if youre a newbie that goes all-in before flop then yes, its all about luck.
But IMO its all about skill and knowing the player.
30% luck and 70% skill. If it was 50/50, then why do why we see the same people at the finals? As you can see, if you're skilled, no matter the hand, you may trick your opponent.
Alittle of both, sometimes the skill just doesn't cut it and you gota dump when you have not many blinds left, the way of the game.
Imo it takes some luck to get a decent hand and match the right cards, but poker is mostly skill, because a bad player would not bluff good, would not know how to react to certain situations or know when he should just fold.
So overall I'd say poker is 20-30% luck and 70-80% skill, given that a pro with 7 2 could possibly beat someone new to the game who only knows to bet when you have a good hand xD
Heavily on skill. You always hear the pros saying "I haven't been all in yet in this tourney" that's how they get deep.
It's definitely a combination of both. I'd say 50/50.
It may seem like there is more luck involved with all the donkeys but it is usually about the same.
its about 50/50 if someone keeps getting lucky at your table you cant do anything but fold most of the time
50-50? Man I gotta think its at least 75\25 I mean
I think poker is more luck than it is skill because you never know what card will come out next and people chase draws.
50 and 50 :D :D
In the future, to poker does not affect luck. In the long run experienced player in any case would be in the black. Luck has meaning only in the short run.
Online poker is definitely 90%luck and 10% skill, the vast range of players makes for interesting plays. prob moire 80/20
I credcapokerul most times you luck .. nothing ... I 2 A, and another one has 2 -3 enter only if the table 2-3!
I agree with Phil Hellmuth, the luck influences but it takes skill:
"Poker is 100% skill and 50% luck" (Phil Hellmuth)
30% luck 70% skill. My opinion
50% of the time I am right all the time
skill 10 % and luck 90 % on pokerstars ...fulltilt skil 30 % and luck 70 %
Luck for those who don't know how to play, skill for those who know...
It's a mixture of both so i would have to say it's pretty much 50/50
Skill as in how to know to manipulate the other players, to know the cards that are in play so you can make assumptions and the right calls and such.
Luck well pretty simple to understand this one....just be lucky and get a good pair of cards or when bluffing.
I think in the long run skill takes over, but there is a lot of luck involved!
In my opion it is a skill.
Off course sometimes you need some luck.
A bad beat or a weird combination, but most of the time you play the golden hands and are patience.
I don't like the term luck because that implies some otherworldly influence. I prefer random chance. And poker playing is having the skill to make the right moves so that the odds are in your favor. Thus where an individual game is pure "luck", over the long term it's 100% skill.
i think alot is luck and sometimes in just a window in time where luck happens
fuuuuu...i mean, deja vuuuuu.................:)
No chance all Skill with maybe 5-10% luck. In the long run, skill wins 100% of the time..
Alittle of both, sometimes the skill just doesn't cut it and you gota dump when you have not many blinds left, the way of the game.
it's both more luck on internet poker more skill in live but also knowledge if you dont count that in skill
I once read "You have to have skills to put yourself in a spot to get lucky."
I think some luck is a must know one wins cause there the best but they do get more chances if u got skills
online it takes alot of luck but skill is always helpful
In freerolls it's maybe 75% luck---25% skill... cause more players in the hand to donk out... buy-in MTT's the same but reversed 25% luck---75% skill.. Just my thoughts
The age old question:) There are so many dynamics and variables related to this question. There is no definitive answer. Some games like hold em are more skill than luck as opposed to say a game like Razz, where luck rules the day. Online or Live? Skill will generally rule the day in a Live game. Online poker has more of a luck factor to it. This is why you see so many online players never breakthrough in the genre of Live action.
