The difference between poker at server and live poker
It's like the difference between tuna and barracuda
about like night and day.. Nothing can duplicate the randomness of a real shuffle and deal
The hand possibilities are the same. But for on a server, people can play at multiple tables at the same time...giving them more patience to wait for their good hand. It also seems (at least to me) that the 2% chance hands seem to hit a lot more on servers than in live...and you'll get a lot more pre-flop all-in calls on the server as well. I think its because its easy to join another table if you get knocked out on another.
the bad hands hit more as the looseness of players grows - and its not just online anymore - i work at a poker room and its one of the looses places in SE michigan - and lots of big hands get cracked - nature of the odds. it used to be that live players were tighter - but with the downfall of online poker in usa those players are now at the live tables and have taken their looseness with them
online is good because you get more hands (thus more outdraw scenarios) - and can play more than one tourney or cash table at a time - plus you can play at home - smoke-um if you got them - eat - watch tv - play in pajamas, etc
live is nice if you like social situations which is what low limit play has become at the casinos and card rooms (at least in michigan)
well i think the server sucks ass cause it always sets ppl up, why the tourneys all last round same time?
dont listen to the doubters about online poker - its NOT rigged and has no reason to be - sure the argument about keeping bad players around is a valid one - but it doesnt make sense for that to be the case, because it would happen all the time not just the percentage of time it is (which is close to the percentage of the actual outdraws anyways) and then no one would ever play
people just have an easier time dealing with bad beats or losing to a draw even, when they can see the cards. Having dealt for 10 years I have seen it all live and online but IMO it just seems to happen more often online cuz ur playing way more hands
Lots of differences. Live poker is more talkative and at times funny.
It used to be people playing live where there to have fun and people playing online are there to make money. Changed a little bit since the major sites got shut down to US players.
I'v never played live poker, only online tournaments...Going to play my first live tournament this Sunday:)
