Psychology of an Over-Bet (short handed)

    Holding QJo
    Opponent K7
    Preflop - Limp in
    Flop comes 7x Jx Jx
    min raise, opponent calls
    Turn comes Q
    2x pot bet, call.
    River comes up rag
2x Pot bet again gets a call

I guess it worked. No idea why he would make that call without an ace, at least, makes no sense whatsoever.

He paired the 7. It doesnt matter if he had an ace or not. The better is not going to bet that with A7.

Hand worked out fine, im wondering what stakes these are at. But overbets are really nice to mix up your game.

Sometimes overbets are hard to understand. I usually just fold to overbets.

Totally not the correct use of "nit".

Yeah, thats just a bad player not thinking tho, theres a time when overbets r usually money. I dont know about using em like this as not many ppl are gonna call 3 straight overbets, glad it worked for u but in the long run ur usually not gonna get any value out of flopping big hands like that. The overbet is usually most used when uve got like 1.5-2 times the pot size in ur stack and u just shove.

Haha, there is no psychology at all in this. You're just playing against bad players who think an over bet is automatically a bluff.

I guess he thought you held a straight draw. Wow, did you win a lot off of that player?
