I agree that if players are tired of earning the points to proceed it really doesn't matter what else you could offer them and you would have to watch out for people signing up just to play in the freeroll, there would need to be some requirements or else people would take advantage.

That's true. Still individual poker clients only allow 1 account as well. Well with the exception of the Merge individual sites.

My guess is that the tournaments wouldn't have much value. They'd have to have a smaller prizepool which would mean the payouts wouldn't be that great. And, they would still need to earn points.
